Mild Girl Summer: Girl’s Trip to Ocean City

This summer was a hard one for me. Between not working for almost 3 months, the loss of my Nana (grandmother), and moving from an apartment I’ve lived in since I was 7, it has not been easy. What can you do to alleviate stress and relax? Take a vacation! The destination being near water is the icing on the cake.

Ocean City, MD

Last week, I went on vacation with my best friend and her family (which is also my family) to Ocean City, MD. It was only about a 3-hour drive from where I live, so it wasn’t a bad road trip. As soon as we got there, we checked in to our hotel, dropped off our bags and headed straight for the beach. I didn’t take pictures, don’t hate me.

I highly underestimated the strength of the waves lol. Not only was I almost knocked down by one, half my skirt got soaked. Mind you, I was wearing regular clothes because my sis didn’t inform to wear my swimsuit there *facepalm*. We stood by the shore for about 30 mins and decided it was time to get something to eat. After strenuous deliberation, we decided to get some pizza from this place called Grotto Pizza. Maybe it’s because we were starving, but the was some GOOD pizza for being beach-side. There was a donut place next to it called Fractured Donuts and their Blueberry Pill donut was on point! I don’t even like blueberries and I enjoyed it.

The next day we headed for the beach, I was prepared this day with my swimsuit and cover-up on ready for battle. I didn’t get near the ocean this day because it smelled off for some reason, but I still had a great time. We went to the pool after a couple hours because it looked like it was going to rain and swam for a few more hours. Later on that night, we went to a carnival. My friend tried to kill me by making me get on the Ferris Wheel. Long story short, it was a complete no-go. I didn’t get on any rides, but I thoroughly enjoyed my red velvet funnel cake and fried Oreos.

On the 3rd day of our trip, I decided to get up early and watch the sunset. It turned out to be a cloudy morning so no sunset. The view was still amazing though. This was our designated chill day. We slept almost the entire day until it was time to get ready for dinner. We settled on a restaurant named Guido’s. I ordered some steak, shrimp, and chorizo nachos and a tequila-based drink and they both were the bomb. After that, we made a trip to the liquor store, picked up some snacks and drinks and watched comedies all night.

The next day it was time to leave. Side note: I had french toast and sausage for breakfast for 3 days straight…It was good but I’m not proud lol. On our way back, the fam decided to go go-carting. I didn’t participate because hips, but it was hilarious seeing the little bro smoke my bestie and their mom. We also stopped by an outlet mall, but didn’t have luck finding anything.

All is all, this trip was amazing. I always have a good time near water and a good sunset. The beach was beautiful and I got more sleep in those few days than I had the previous week. I would definitely go again. If you’d like to see video footage of my trip, check out my Instagram @katienxtdoor. Love you guys! *hugs*
