Brunchin’ it up in Brooklyn

Brunch, as we know, has become the cornerstone of girls days and Sunday afternoons for the past couple of years now. For some reason, I missed the memo. Maybe because usually brunch is on Sundays and I’m usually in church service the afternoon. Anyway, I’ve always wanted to go to a brunch spot with some friends, drink endless mimosas, have girl chat, and eat some bomb food. Well, I finally did it, minus the mimosas. On a day trip with some friends to Brooklyn, NY, we decided to go to this brunch spot called Pies and Thighs. The name alone made my expectations rise. I’m not really a fan of pie unless it’s paired with ice cream, but I for sure have some thighs.

We left DC around 9 am on a day trip to explore the city before a church service and got there around 1 pm, perfect time for brunch lol. When I tell you this place was crowded, smh. My claustrophobia instantly kicked in as we navigated the entrance to find the host. We made a reservation and was told the hostess would come and get us when a table was ready. After about 30 minutes of standing outside and waiting, we were seated. I wish it was a little more spacious and warm, but hey, it’s NYC.

The prices were fairly decent compared to the portion size, so no complaints. Seeing that it was my first time getting brunch, I order the chicken and waffles, you know, for the culture lol. I also got some home fries on the side and a virgin Arnold Palmer to wash everything down.

My, My, MY! That food was AMAZING! The waffles were fluffy and topped with a ball of cherry-infused butter and cherry preserves. The chicken could’ve used a little more seasoning, but it was still pretty good. Don’t even get me started on the home fries. Paired with a little ketchup, they were fire. Overall, I had a great first-time experience. If you know of any awesome brunch spots, let me know in a comments below (corny, I know). The next time I go to brunch, there better be some mimosas, but hey, that’s just my two cents…
